First things first: Email whitelisting

Whitelists are used as a security feature for limiting and controlling access only to trusted users. Before starting to use the Sideways 6 platform it is very important to make sure that emails sent by our system will get directly to the mailbox of your employees and this could be achieved by adding our platform to the list of allowed senders.

Please Note: if you do not want to use the Sideways 6 email system, you can configure your own SMTP for email comms.

There are two types of messages that will be sent from the platform:

1) Emails sent from support@sideways6.com.

These are the notifications that are sent to the S6 platform users e.g. campaign managers or idea owners to invite them to the platform or let them know about the new ideas submitted.

To receive such emails, please contact your IT department and ask them to whitelist our email domain:

Our Email domain: sideways6.com

2) Emails sent on behalf of a 'service account'.

On the platform, there is an ability to impersonate a certain company email address e.g. ideas@yourcompanyemaildomain.com and send emails to your employees on behalf of this email address. These are the notifications sent to idea submitters to update them on the progress of ideas submitted, also this email address is used to send emails to the Subject Matter Experts with the invitation to evaluate ideas against certain criteria.

Impersonated emails are often blocked by companies to prevent spoofing attacks or phishing from happening and therefore the emails sent from the S6 platform could be blocked as well. To allow receiving impersonated emails please ask your IT department to whitelist the following:

Our Email server IP address: 168.245.26.234 ( this IP address is static)

Our Email platform: Sendgrid.net

Some companies require generating a DKIM key or an SPF record and apply a DMARC policy for the emails to come through. If that is the case for your company, please contact maksim.grechuha@sideways6.com and we will set this up in collaboration with your IT department.
